Wall Hutches for a Kids’ Work Area

kids-work-area.jpg

There has been some serious DIY going on at the vintage home that Jaime from That’s My Letter recently became the proud owner of. Last week, I shared the schoolhouse desks that Jaime built to transform an empty space into a rockin’ work area for her kiddos. With the help of Ana White, Jaime added the perfect companions in two wall hutch units that provide plenty of storage and style. I simply adore this space! Jaime, my friend, you are one talented lady!

Painted Vanity Desk

Virginia from LiveLoveDIY is a super frugal gal who loves thrift store excursions. On one of her trips, she came across a little, outdated wooden desk for $20. It reminded Virginia of a gorgeous $2000 vanity she’d just seen at Crate &Barrel. Virginia knew just what to do and transformed the piece with some high gloss black paint and a sleek chrome handle.

We have been following along as Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic has built one fabulous piece of furniture after another for her son’s bedroom. Barn Door Desk

Tracie from Cleverly Inspired was in love with the sawhorse desk style. When she happened upon an old barn door that was a steal for $25, she knew it was just what she needed to create a beautiful and unique desk top. She paired the door with some old railing parts for the legs and [...Read More]

Library Catalog Desk

Jaime from That’s My Letter teamed up with Ana White to build a desk her kids will get excited about playing (and working!) at. The brightly colored drawer fronts and vintage library catalog pulls set this piece apart from your usual desk. I’d say Jaime and Ana totally nailed this knock off! Jaime was inspired [...Read More]

Glossy Painted Desk

Meagan from Craft Habit freshened up a desk that has been with her since second grade with some paint and high gloss enamel. Meagan says, “I could have just bought a new desk, but this desk has history and character (the most important factors for me when choosing things for my home), so I decided [...Read More]

Painted Desk with Stained Top

Karri from House of Tubers initially spotted the Whitney Desk in the PB catalog.  Then after looking around, she saw quite a few similar two toned pieces with painted and distressed bases and dark stained tops on Pinterest.  She decided to combine what she liked about all of them and make her own from a [...Read More]

Rustic Farmhouse Desk

Brook from Being Brook loves the look of a farmhouse table, especially the ones made out of reclaimed wood. It was the perfect look for a new desk for her son’s bedroom. Brook scaled down Ana White’s plans and used some scrap wood to build the desk. The look of the brand spankin’ new wood [...Read More]
