Debbie picked up a well-used cutting board from the thrift store and gave it a whole new look with a monogram, wood stain, and wooden legs. This is a great gift idea to keep in mind for friends who love to entertain!

Natalie from Sophisticated Yellow came across an ad for Restoration Hardware’s Montpellier Armoire and fell in love with its dark, bold, and commanding look. Not surprisingly, it was also expensive. However, Natalie happened to have two old armoires sitting in her garage that looked remarkably similar. A few coats of paint later and some light sanding was all it took to transform her old armoires into Restoration Hardware’s black beauties.
The is no question that paint can work a miracle when it comes to updating a wall or piece of furniture, but what about upholstery? Roeshel from The DIY Showoff shows it can be done! She toned down a pair of brightly-colored arm chairs from the thrift store with some watered- down latex paint. Roeshel finished off the amazing transformation with a brown stripe to add some interest.
When you think of a kitchen mat, I am sure fun is not a word that comes to your mind. However, Laura from Markham Street Designs shows that a kitchen mat can be full of life and personality! Laura took her old foam kitchen mat and painted it to resemble a zigzag mat she spotted in a magazine. Even dishes would be a little more fun standing on this mat {wink}!
You might be surprised that the box from this morning’s bowl of cereal could become wall décor that rivals that of Pottery Barn. Just check out this burlap mat that Melissa from Redfly Creations created from cardboard. A spray painted secondhand frame makes this project all the more thrifty!

It’s hard to believe much could come of a “dirty, smoky, beaten up, rickety old dresser” from the thrift store. That is… until Virginia from LiveLoveDIY got her hands on it!
