Michelle of That Mommy Blog wanted to give her dining room a makeover that would reflect her “true and passionate love for neutrals, texture, and metallics.” She made a huge impact in the space by transforming her dining table into the table of her dreams with a faux zinc tabletop and distressed base. Refinished Bed with Weathered Finish

diy restoration hardware finish

When it came time to convert her son’s nursery to a “big boy” room, Meesh from imeeshu opted for a queen bed so there’d be plenty of room for story time cuddles. She found a glossy white bed on Craigslist and used her own technique for recreating the beautiful weathered finish that’s signature of Restoration Hardware’s pieces. The look is perfect for a little boy’s room, and this whole space basically knocks my socks off. Amazing job, Meesh!

Jute and Metal Lamp Base

jute and metal lamp inspired by pottery barn

Gail from Purple Hues and Me came across a couple of hand woven wicker lamps that really inspired her to update the somewhat “dowdy” ones she’s owned for years. Instead of woven wicker, Gail wrapped her lamp in jute twine and added bands of jute braiding and galvanized tape as accents. Gail did an awesome job combining materials and textures to achieve the look of her inspiration!

Hive Patterned Vase

I am loving this easy vase update shared by Angie of The Country Chic Cottage. It’s not like my hubby is constantly bringing me vases of flowers, but I somehow always seem to have plenty of them hiding in my cabinets. Angie busted out the Krylon on her vase and then used a dimensional writer to create a very cool honeycomb pattern for instant style.

Painted Schoolhouse Light Fixture

There’s a lot to love about the industrial look of schoolhouse-style light fixtures. Throw in a colorful stripe, and I am over the moon! Mary from At Home on the Bay transformed an inexpensive light fixture from Home Depot with some spray paint and gave it the look of a much pricier fixture. I am so loving that beautiful combination of aqua and silver!

Antique Silver Frame

picture-frame-makeover.jpg

Lauren from The Endearing Home almost purchased a beautiful antique silver frame from West Elm. Almost… before she realized she had several old frames in her garage that could easily be refabbed. Lauren applied Rub ‘n Buff to one of the frames for an aged silver finish and also created a linen matting using an old curtain panel. I am loving how Lauren totally nailed the look with items she already had! Yay for not one but TWO great upcycles!
