When Melody from My Passion for Décor got a “feeling” that she needed to take a trip to her local Goodwill, it turned out that her furniture revamping radar was spot on. Melody ended up finding a pair of honey oak filing cabinets that were reminiscent of a desk she had been admiring from Pottery Barn. With a fresh coat of chalk paint and wood panel desktop, Melody turned the old cabinets into a desk that she absolutely adores!

Maria of A Hoover-gáton is túl saw a piece of wall art on Horchow that she fell in love with instantly and had to have. To recreate the look of the paneled art, Maria bought some canvases and acrylic paint and then had Office Max print the image onto a transparency. Using an old overhead projector, Maria traced the image onto the canvases and painted it in. This was a weekend project that cost Maria only $35 compared to $800!

While on a shopping trip in Pottery Barn, Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage found a lamp and shade that she loved. The bad news is they were quite pricey. The good news is Gina is a pro at creating a “cheaper alternative,” like mimicking a $159+ lamp for less than $10 using secondhand finds. Gina’s revamped lamp is just as lovely as her inspiration but is even better since Gina translated words from one of hubby’s love notes for the script. Oohlala!
