Easy DIY Headboard Bench for Any Room

DIY Headboard Bench

Heather from My Happy Simple Living turned an old twin headboard into the sweetest DIY entryway bench, and I can’t take my eyes off it!

She found the headboard for just $5 at a thrift store and 100% transformed it into something charming and functional.

What I love most is how she kept the natural wood look with a warm, farmhouse-style stain that really brings out the detail.

She added a seat using common boards, cut to size and sanded smooth, then attached them with wood glue and screws.

The final touch?

Cozy cushions and a few throw pillows that give it a totally welcoming vibe.

Heather even gives clear, step-by-step instructions with measurements, so it’s super doable, even for beginner DIYers.

She uses a Kreg Jig to make strong pocket hole joints—if you don’t have one yet, this project might convince you to get one!

This is the perfect weekend project for upcycling lovers or anyone looking to add charm to a hallway, porch, or mudroom.

Heather suggests checking your local thrift shops or Facebook Marketplace for headboards—you’ll be surprised what you can score for cheap.
