Punched Tin Can Ornament with Light

Lauren from The Thinking Closet purchased one of Crate & Barrel’s Hakkari Candle Holders last fall and was inspired to create her own version, but ornament-style! Lauren repurposed an old tin can and shares tips for creating a punched design without indenting the can. To get the soft, glowing effect, Lauren just inserted a Christmas light from the tree. She says, “It’s one of my favorite creations…and is a really inexpensive way to get a high-end look!”

Oversized Peace Wreath from Sticks

Jamie from C.R.A.F.T. decided to go BIG with her wreath this holiday season. She started out with an outdated grapevine wreath from the thrift store that was covered with silk flowers. After removing all the flowers, Jamie used sticks from her backyard to create a peace sign with the wreath form. I always love a non-traditional wreath, and you can’t deny that this three-foot one makes quite the statement above Jamie’s mantel!

Decorative Mirror from Toilet Paper Rolls

Meghan from Happiness Is… Creating finally decided to jump on board the toilet paper roll art train. While it may be hard to consider toilet paper rolls an art form, the pliable cardboard proved to be the perfect material for recreating the petal-like look of a mirror Meghan loved. The carefully arranged cardboard pieces have an amazingly similar effect to the wrought iron of Meghan’s inspiration, and her mirror only cost fifteen bucks instead of one hundred and fifty!

Bronze and Gold Starburst Mirror

I am not the only one to recently jump on the starburst mirror bandwagon. Debbie from One Day at a Time also recognized the popularity of these mirrors and wanted to get in on the fun. Debbie combined elements from a couple of her faves from Crate& Barrel to come up with a unique design that would work in her “1951 post-war cape cottage.” Debbie’s bronze-and-gold beauty was created using floral stakes, glue, and an octagon mirror for even more “50’s flair.”
