It was love at first sight when Sarah of Sarah M. Dorsey Designs laid eyes on Schumacher’s Zimba patterned fabric. However, at $100 a yard, Sarah was looking at close to $1000 to make multiple window panels. Ouch! Sarah instead recreated the pattern on her computer to make a template and then painted away on some IKEA curtains. Talk about some serious DIY savvy! And don’t Sarah’s curtains look amazing!?!
I am simply loving my new painted curtains and am not the only one who has had success with this money-saving option. If you’ve seen the prices on some of Anthro’s ruffly panels, you know I am not exaggerating when I say they are crrrazy expensive. How about we just drop one of those zeros off the $200 price tag? What’s the secret you might be wondering… Amanda used $4 sheets from Wal-mart, which allowed her to get plenty of fabric to sew these beauties without the expense!
