Cara from Chasing Shiny Objects gave a quick update to a plain white table by painting the legs gold for a trendy paint-dipped effect. Cara already had her table, so it was literally as simple as taping and painting. As Cara shares, this look can be achieved with one of those cheap round tables that are usually covered with a tablecloth. With a little paint, no one will know it’s from Wal-mart!
Erika from Retropolitan purchased a few sheets of marbled paper online and used it to recover an old wooden box she had picked up at the thrift store for a couple dollars. She says, “It was a fairly easy decoupage project that took about a half hour to do. I think it turned out pretty great for only $3 and a few minutes of my time.” After making over her box, Erika just so happened to notice that West Elm sells an agate box that looks crazy similar for $49 to $79!
Jann from Newton Custom Interiors had been wanting to make her own zigzag pillow cover, but the task of perfectly lining up the stripes seemed a bit daunting. This time of year I know we are all eager to infuse our homes with as much warmth and coziness as possible. Not much says warm and cozy like a comfy old sweater, so why not turn one into a pillow? Zandi from Radical Possibility went shopping in the fabric sweater aisle at her local thrift store for a couple of sweaters to repurpose. Zandi found two perfect sweaters and loves how they satisfy her desire for clean, modern lines and also her need “to nest and be cozy.”
Kristin from Bliss at Home has been collecting pieces to create the very first gallery wall in her home. Since many of items are smaller, Kristin wanted a feature piece and knew an abstract art collection she’d been eyeing from West Elm would serve as the perfect inspiration. The fun part of this project is that Kristin involved her boys in the creative process. She says, “I love that we made this together and that it will be the key piece to our gallery wall.”
