West elm inspired

Bonnie from BonnieProjects shares at Teal & Lime how she added a fun, personal touch to her bed with striped pillow shams. Bonnie had been eyeing West Elm’s shams for some time and had even gotten close to buying them despite the hefty price tag. One thing holding her back was the fact that there was a three-letter limit on monograms. Bonnie says, “So what do you do when you can’t get what you want? Make your own!” Bonnie’s workmanship on these is impeccable, and the sweet nicknames on the front are the icing on the cake!

Sarah from Funcycled planned to refinish a mid-century modern dresser and wanted to do something outside-the-box. She came across West Elm’s patchwork dresser and new it would be the perfect look for her dresser. Sarah and her husband got to work sanding the dresser, painting the box white, and then staining the drawers in a variety of finishes. I love the contrast of the crisp white paint and stain. This is such a fun, statement-making piece!

Ashley from Bigger Than the Three of Us is in the midst of a kitchen remodel. Even though the decorating part is still a ways away, Ashley says she can’t help thinking and dreaming about that fun part. Ashley ended up falling hard for a white minimalist clock from West Elm and was able to recreate it using a plate. The curve of the plate mimics the look of West Elm’s clock to perfection and makes for such an easy DIY!

Tasha from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body turned quilting hoops into a beautifully-shaped wood pendant light for her family. Tasha made just a couple of changes from her West Elm inspiration, including a darker stain color and socket adapter to allow for more light. That’s what you gotta love about DIY – you get exactly what you want for way less, in this case $150 less!

Since moving from a condo to a house, Jennifer from Brave New Home says she’s been enamored with anything house-related. Thus, she was inspired she create a house-shaped chalkboard clock from foam board. Amazingly, Jennifer was able to pull it off for less than $2 since she had most of the supplies on hand! Wouldn’t this make the cutest housewarming gift?
