Wood American Flag Plaque

wood-american-flag-plaque.jpg

With barbeques and summer right around the corner, Andrea from Queen of Kings just had to have a larger-than-life American flag to bring in the season. Andrea hit up the home improvement and craft stores for her supplies and then put her painting and mathematical skills to work. Andrea says, “This sign took A LOT of work and math, but the end result was well worth it! Stars & stripes forever!!!”

Numbered Storage Baskets

pottery-barn-inspired-baskets-with-numbers.jpg

Whether they are on drawers, stools, or baskets, Megan from Balancing Home loves numbers in décor. After repeatedly seeing images of numbers on baskets in her Pottery Barn catalogs, Megan decided it was high time she implemented this design element into her own home. Megan kept it simple by purchasing mailbox numbers in varying styles from the hardware store. I love how they add visual interest to otherwise plain storage baskets.

Nautical Clipboard Art

I have seen clipboards used to create rotating gallery walls before, and their usefulness as wall décor doesn’t stop there. Jeanine at Okio B Designs was inspired to create nautical clipboard art for her office with white paint, starfish, and nautical prints. Clipboards are way cheap, and you could definitely have some fun customizing the design so they speak to you.

Queen Storage Bed

Ever since Shannon from Bohemian Junktion’s son left for college, bed in tow, his room has sat empty. When it came time for spring break and her son’s arrival home, Shannon knew he would obviously need a place to sleep and came up with a plan that involved moving her high school daughter’s bed into her son’s room and building a cottage-y storage bed for her daughter. The really impressive part is that her teenage daughter is the one who actually built the bed using plans from Ana White. You go girl!

Painted Clock Face from Table

pottery-barn-inspired-clockface-from-old-tabletop.jpg

Becky from Posh Pink Giraffe made a decorative clock face that seriously looks like it came straight from the pages of Pottery Barn’s catalog. And here’s the kicker… it didn’t cost her cent! The secret to Becky’s saving was in repurposing an old tabletop that had been hanging around in the trunk of her car for a month. The table was on its way to Goodwill until Becky was hit with her genius idea. It’s times like these we can be grateful for a little procrastination {wink}!

Personalized Canvas Nightlight

customized-bird-nightlight.jpg

I think part of the appeal of Pottery Barn Kids is that pretty much anything can be customized. However, as we all know, custom comes at a cost. Like… $35 for a nightlight. Ouch! Fortunately, crafty ladies like Vanessa from Tried and True have a knack for getting that custom look without spending $35 on something that costs $5 at Wal-mart. Vanessa shares at Crafts Unleashed how she made this adorable nightlight using a mini canvas and tissue paper. Too cute!

Personalized Step Stool

With two young children, I can attest to the fact that a stool is a necessity in the bathroom and can also be helpful if you’ve a little chef in the kitchen. While plastic stools get the job done, they just aren’t nearly as pleasing to the eye as a personalized wood stool like this one from Jaime at That’s My Letter. Jaime followed plans from Ana White to build her stool for next to nothing using scraps she had on hand. The hand painted personalization is just the icing on the cake!

DIY-Pottery-Barn-Inspired-Clock-Face.jpg

Clocks aren’t just for telling time anymore. They’ve become staples in home decor and don’t even need moving parts to earn their keep. Angela from Unexpected Elegance shows just how easy it is to create your own decorative clock face using quilting hoops and wood sticks. It really was as simple as gluing and painting. And doesn’t Angela’s clock look amazingly like her inspiration?
