However, at $55-$59 a piece, Erin from Elizabeth Joan Designs says you might as well just keep the food in the bag or make your own stylish pet food bin. Of course, crafty sister Erin chose the latter of the two! She hit up the thrift store for a popcorn tin and updated it with some horizontal painted stripes. The canister even has Erin’s Golden Retriever’s seal of approval, so you know it must be pretty awesome {Wink}!

Kat from Basil and Chaise shares the steps to achieving that shabby chic look yourself without spending big bucks. Kat was fortunate to find a set of solid wood ladder back chairs on the side of the road that were tired and in need of a makeover. She decided to give one of her new chairs a heavily distressed look with white paint, a paint scraper, and sandpaper. Fresh fabric finished off the chair and gave it a second chance to shine!

They ended up costing Nicole about $20 a piece, which is a steal compared to the fixtures she had been eyeing from Ballard and Restoration Hardware.

After being inspired to make over an entire dresser with chalkboard paint, Connie added some festivity with chalk drawings similar to those seen in RH Baby & Child’s holiday catalog. This is a fun and easy way to change out your décor with the seasons or just when you are in the mood for something new.

I am simply loving my new painted curtains and am not the only one who has had success with this money-saving option. Eleni from Fields of Basil wanted cheerful curtains with a splash of color and found them, but of course they came at a steep price.
