Teen Calendar and Command Center

Cassie from Hi Sugarplum wanted to create a command center to help her son keep track of his increasingly busy schedule and social life. It wasn’t hard for Cassie to make a DIY version that came in far cheaper than PB Teen’s expensive tile board sets. Cassie says it was surprisingly simple to make and would also be great for a an entire family since the panels can easily be customized to fit your needs.

Keep Toys Tidy with Cube Bookshelves

With a generously-sized closet and no need for a dresser, Hillary from The Friendly Home had plenty of space for furniture in her daughter’s bedroom. She already had a set of bookcases. Unfortunately, they happened to be “cheap, ugly, and “not very sturdy” bookcases that Hillary was more than eager to replace. She said goodbye to the laminate shelving and built a pair of solid wood cubby shelves following plans from Ana White. Hillary loves how the cube design keeps book standing up and allows for hidden storage so everything looks neat and tidy.

Card Catalog Craft Room Storage

ChiWei from One Dog Woof has always loved the idea of having lots of little drawers to store all those bits and pieces of craft supplies she owns. When a card catalog came up on Craigslist at a reasonable price, ChiWei jumped on it, or rather, had her husband jump on it to ensure she became the proud new owner. ChiWei and her helpful hubby cut the original piece in half to create two consoles, built a new top for one of the pieces, and then gave them a fresh coat of paint. Now instead of one old broken down card catalog, ChiWei has two console tables to hold all of her goodies and plenty of room on top for display!

Wall Hutches for a Kids’ Work Area

There has been some serious DIY going on at the vintage home that Jaime from That’s My Letter recently became the proud owner of. Last week, I shared the schoolhouse desks that Jaime built to transform an empty space into a rockin’ work area for her kiddos. With the help of Ana White, Jaime added the perfect companions in two wall hutch units that provide plenty of storage and style. I simply adore this space! Jaime, my friend, you are one talented lady!
