Wooden Number Tags–Easy as 1, 2, 3!

Like Yvonne at Stone Gable, do you go an organizing frenzy after Christmas? She whipped the built-ins in her living room into shape by organizing her books in baskets with wooden number labels. Yvonne made those lovely labels herself and shares her technique for transferring the text without a cutting machine. In addition to labeling baskets, you could also hang them on flower pots or vases for a pretty centerpiece, tie them around glass jars for creative storage, or even wrap up some silverware for a unique place setting.

Scrap Fabric Patchwork Wall Art

Zoica, one of the crafty gals at Two Creative Women, shares a fairly simple project for turning fabric scraps into works of art. All it requires is a few rectangles of fabric and a little sewing. Of course, this is perfect for those last little bits of fabric you’ve been saving, or it could also be a fun way to give sentimental pieces like baby bedding new life.

The Perfect Round Burlap Tablecloth

Traci from Beneath My Heart recently shared a blast from her blogging past with this round burlap tablecloth she sewed up a few years ago. While Ballard was charging $85 for their tablecloth, Traci was able to easily make her own for only $9. That’s $9 for a tablecloth that will never go out of style, as evidenced by the fact that Ballard is still selling the exact same one years later. Traci walks you through the entire process from getting the right dimensions to cutting a perfect circle so you can make one too!

DIY Wood-Tiled Nightstands

Monica and Jess of East Coast Creative were inspired by one of the amazing projects in their Creating with the Stars competition last March to transform an unfinished wood nightstand from IKEA into a truly unique and eye-catching piece. The crafty gals cut and stained wood pieces in varying shades to have the look of pricey tile and then glued them to the drawer fronts. Thanks to IKEA’s $35 nightstands, it cost less than $100 for the PAIR of stylin’ nightstands.

Gift-Worthy Hand Towel with Monogram

Isn’t it funny how a simple monogram takes something ordinary and makes it extra special? Takes these tea towels from Jeran at Oleander + Palm for example. They were just plain old striped towels. Pretty, yes, but still just plain old towels. However, after Jeran added a monogram using the freezer paper stencil technique, they are oh-so adorable and gift-worthy. I guess that’s why stores can charge more for the monogramming than the actual towel {Wink}!
