Copycat

Jenna from Rain on a Tin Roof loves some lucite and can only describe it as “the stuff dreams are made of.” If you are coveting a lucite tray like Jenna was, you have a couple of options – dish out $44 for one from Anthro or make your own for $5. Don’t you wish all decisions were this simple??? Jenna made her tray in less than 15 minutes by literally just flipping over acrylic frames. That’s it! Jenna adds, “And better yet – mine are a bit more blinged out with some fun patterned bottoms!”

Look no further than these XOXO pillows that Katie at View from the Fridge sewed up for her home. Katie loves the simple, neutral look and subtle hints at Valentine’s Day. Oh, and of course the price! Katie paid only $25 to make all FOUR pillows, which would have cost her a shocking $600 if purchased from Anthropologie!

Jen and Brian from Something We Whipped Up both loved the “simply yet sturdy look” of West Elm’s industrial curtain rods. Unfortunately, at $99 a piece, there was no way they were buying two! A quick trip to the hardware store, and Jen and Brian had everything they needed to make their own pipe curtain rods for less than a quarter the price. Most stores will cut and rethread the pipe for you, so basically all you have to do is connect the pieces and voila!

When it comes to selecting curtains, Lindsay from Makely School for Girls usually goes for muted panels that blend with the wall. However, for her daughter’s big girl room, Lindsay wanted to make a bold statement and add texture to the neutral walls. What better way to get the job done than with pom-poms? Lots and lots of pom-poms… 45 rows to be exact! Lindsay devoted hours to hot gluing pom-pom trim onto store-bought panels, and while it may have taken longer than expected, the result is vibrant, fun, and simply beautiful!

Marie from Blooming Homestead loved the look of Ballard’s seagrass hurricanes so much she headed straight to the craft store for glass jars and sisal rope to make her own. Marie shares at I Heart Nap Time how she wove the rope and then attached it to the glasses armed with just her glue gun. These hurricanes are a seasonal decorators dream! Marie says she can’t wait to add succulents in the spring and sand and shells in the summer.
