Gold Leaf Patterned Pillows

Brynne of The Gathered Home loved the gold metallic pillow covers from West Elm and started wondering if it was possible to DIY pillows that had the same metallic luster. The idea of using gold leaf on fabric came to Brynne, and since she already had the supplies on hand, there was nothing to lose! Brynne says, “It turns out you CAN gold leaf fabric, which opens up a world of possibilities – not the least of which is having my own version of my favorite West Elm pillows on my sofa!”

Painted Cookie Jar Lids with Decorative Knobs

Amy from Joyful Daisy is at it again with another MacKenzie-Childs knock off! This time Amy made over her mom’s cookie jars with pretty ceramic knobs and painted lids. Check out these wooden storage trays Tasha from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body made from unfinished wood boxes from Michael’s. This is a great way to organize office supplies, and I love the idea of adding dividers to corral smaller items like paper clips, push pins, and the like.

Zebra Jewelry Dish and Catchall

Amanda from A Hammer & Heals almost wrote this zebra jewelry dish off as a DIY fail. However, after taking a little breather from the project, Amanda came back with a clear head and completed her playful catchall for only a fourth of the designer price. Like Amanda says, the fun of DIY is being able to customize the project to your liking, and I love how she put her own spin on it with the gold and turquoise color scheme!
