Draw Your Own Geometric Art

Lindsay of The Jensen Crew REALLY wanted to get her hands on a set of symmetry art prints, but all her leads came up dry. Just when she was about to throw in the towel, Lindsay found perfectly-sized frames and paper at Hobby Lobby. Could she possibly draw her own artwork? Amazingly, that’s exactly what Lindsay did. She says, “You never know what you can do until you try! I would have never thought I was an artist. But I can do shapes!!”

Rope Stool and Side Table

Griffin from The Design Itch was inspired by a woven ottoman from Crate & Barrel to make her own. Initially Griffin thought she could simply wrap a garden stool in nautical rope but discovered this solution would cost her way more than simply buying it from Crate & Barrel. So instead Griffin thought outside the box and glued together two ceramic pots and wrapped them in rope. Her knock-off has a similar form and the same wonderful texture as the original.

Glass Container Terrariums

Inspired by the current trend of houseplants, but uninspired by the thought of upkeep, Sarah from {Home-ology} Modern Vintage became smitten with the idea of terrariums. She found a beautiful terrarium at Crate & Barrel but wasn’t so enthused with its “sale” price. Sarah went in search of similar versions at vintage shops and found three beautiful glass containers to create her own grouping of terrariums.

Hurricane with Rope Pedestal

Sometimes a simple flip or snip can give your old décor a whole new look. That was the case with this candle holder that Jeanette from Homa Style created by turning a glass dome she already owned upside down. She placed it atop a rope-wrapped vase with a dab of hot glue so it can easily transition back to a dome when Jeanette’s ready to mix it up again.

Silver Starburst Mirror

I am thrilled to have Mrs. Polly Rogers back with another of her fabulous and frugal creations, and let me say that her starburst mirror is a true lesson in thriftiness! The secret ingredient here is bendy straws that Polly painted silver and attached to an inexpensive round mirror. Polly says, “This project is fast, cheap, and easy but DRAMATIC and stands up to the closest scrutiny.”
