Rachael of Lovely Crafty Home was in the market for a new duvet cover and decided to test her newly improved sewing skills and make her own. Like Rachael says, “A duvet cover is just a giant pillow, right?” She combined together a drop cloth, a cheapo sheet, and fabric from Wal-mart to make her lovely ruffled duvet cover. While this was hardly a simple project, Rachael says, “All the hard work and getting stabbed by pins totally paid off.”

Erin from Elizabeth Joan Designs needed some storage for her son's ever-growing collection of basketballs, footballs and soccer balls. She happened to have an old metal laundry basket in storage and gave it an industrial makeover a la Restoration Hardware. I love how Erin was able to use a little creativity to turn an item she wasn’t using anymore into a functional and decorative storage solution!

I am betting most kids would love to have their own play teepee, but, as a parent, you may be wondering where in the world you could easily store a seven foot teepee in your house. Lindsay of Lindsay and Drew has the answer with this space-saving, collapsible teepee she created out of PVC pipe and drop cloth. Pull it out for hours of fun and then easily store it when you’re done!

For city girl Linda from It All Started with Paint, spare grain sacks are hard to come by. If at all. So Linda decided to take matters into her own hands and make her own faux grain sack pillows using drop cloth, fabric paint, and painter's tape. I think the drop cloth offers the perfect texture for this project and love Linda’s pillows even more than Pottery Barn’s!

Melissa of Two It Yourself says the most rewarding part of the master bedroom makeover she completed last year was the DIY upholstered headboard she made with the help of her sister Stephanie. Amazingly, the sisters were about to pull together this beautiful king-sized bed in only five hours and for close to $150. The mattress delivery guy didn’t even believe Melissa had really made the bed until she pulled out the leftover drop cloth as proof. That, my friends, is success!
