Pavers: Why Should You Get Them?

6:02 PM By Julia Carlisle

Pavers: Why Should You Get Them?

Our home is considered as our last frontier in this life. Wherever we may be, a part of us is left in our home.

We yearn for it even though we deny it.

Our home is where we grew up, where we learned our first words and took our first steps.

It may not be the perfect place or even provided a good living condition at times.

However, it is our home and we would always return to it one way or the other. It might not be the home we grew up in, but there is nothing we can do about that.

Time can change anything, and even our last frontier may break and change along with it.

This is why we should always take care of our houses, especially while we are living in it. Its maintenance is very important as it can be dangerous if left without any kind of repair.

The ceiling might cave in. Your walls might cracks that you have never noticed before. Your roof shingles might be missing some parts and left your house uncovered.

Even your own backyard needs to have some TLC in order for it to look good.

Your house will not clean or repair itself; you need to do it yourself or let somebody else do it for you.

For example, you may have a really nice backyard with a lot of plants and other stuff on it.

It looks very plain with just all the plants lying around waiting for you to water them.

It looks alright and yet it seems that something is missing. You take a look at gnomes, colorful pots, other plants that you can obtain and everything in between.

However, it still looks a little plain. You may want to look into using pavers for your garden.

Pavers are stones, bricks or tiles that are used for external flooring.

They are typically used in walkways from your house to the garden.

Pavers were said to be used first in Rome, where they laid it on their streets and floors in patterns.

Some of the designs even became known as a classic patterns that denote Ancient Rome.

Up until now, pavers are really popular in many houses and gardens alike. Why are they used so frequently though?

They Are Very Durable and Last a Long Time

La Catedral de la Virgen María de la Concepción Inmaculada, Havana, Cuba. It’s a public square in town center, in front of the churc there’re several tourists.Have you ever been in those old mansions? Those ones that stood for like a century and their owners seem to have forgotten about them.

Millions of memories may have been housed inside that edifice, but all that is left is the structure.

Do you know what else is left?

The pavement, even after another century, still remains. It is a testament to the longevity of pavers if you lay them in your backyard.

They do not even crack that easily depending on the materials that were used to make them.

Brick and concrete pavers last the longest, and some can still be used even when there are cracks.

Grass might grow in between the pavers, so watch out when they grow abundantly. They can be difficult to remove, but if you like the look of it then you can just let it be.

If you have decided to remove them, be careful as you can pull the paver with it if it already grew deep enough.

Polymer sand can prevent the growth of weeds, as long as it was laid properly along the paver.

Pavers Can Adapt to Changes in Weather and Temperature

As most pavers are very durable, they can also withstand most climates and situations.

As we cycle through the seasons, the temperature of the ground also changes along with it.

Today with the changing climate of our planet, you may observe that the weather changes rapidly. It might be raining in the morning and scorching hot in the afternoon.

The winters are getting harsher and summers are excruciating. The storms and tornadoes are also becoming stronger each year.

Lightning strikes happen in many states, and a lot of houses and pavements get affected. Read more about it here: https://infrastructuremagazine.com.au/2018/08/17/the-impact-of-climate-change-on-infrastructure/.

Pavers are susceptible to these changes overtime, but the effects are immediate. Even with the unpredictable weather, pavers can withstand all those changes.

You might see some cracks in a few years, but the full damage will not be observed for over a decade, especially with quality pavers.

However, the quality of the paver is irrelevant if you do not know how to install them.

You can hire someone to do that for you or you can do it on your own as long as your know what you are doing.

They Are Also Very Easy to Clean and Maintain

Once you have already laid your pavement, all you have to do is walk through it over and over again.

You can walk on it as many times as you want. Also, you do not even need to have a special tool to clean it.

Your regular broomstick or a good hosing of water can remove the dirt just fine. If there is a stubborn stain that you really just want to remove, there are special cleaners available for any stain.

Sealers are also great in protecting your pavers.

If you are wondering about sealing the pavers, you can check out this paver sealing guide by Seal with Ease.

Pavers can be a great addition to any home as it serves it function as a pathway while making your surroundings aesthetically pleasing.

It may cost you some money, but the output is worth it. You can now enjoy your garden without getting dirt all over your shoes.
