Oxygenate Your Home: Top 5 House Plants

By

Have you been pulling your hair out trying to decide which decorations to have in your home?

Why not consider something a bit more functional than a picture or a statue?

House plants not only work as beautiful decorations, but they double ass natural air purifiers. But which house plants are best to have around?

If you’ve always wanted a green home, but don’t have a green thumb, this list of easy house plants is for you. Read on to learn more about these multifunctional decorations.

1. Warneckii

We’re going to kick off this list with a zesty lemon-lime plant. The Dracaena Warneckii is the perfect household plant for anyone, green-thumbed or not.

This plant is mostly self-sustaining, as you don’t have to water it very often. In fact, the Warneckii actually prefers a dryer soil.

You’ll want to keep this plant near a window so that it can absorb as much sunlight as possible. While this plant can tolerate low light, it thrives in just a bit of window light. You can find the Warneckii at just about any online plant store.

2. ZZ Plant

The ZZ plant is perfect for any beginner. This plant actually prefers that you keep your clueless hands off of it. Much like a cactus, this plant can live for months without needing to be watered.

On top of its lack of thirst, this easy plant enjoys low light and cool environments.

Stick this plant in any corner, just remember to water it every now and then.

3. Aloe Plants

If you’re looking to get the best bang for your buck, an aloe plant is a route to go. Not only do you get a decorative air purifier, but aloe is known for its number of healing properties.

This plant is relatively easy to keep alive, as it thrives in most environments.

If you find yourself with a bad sunburn or a small cut, you can break off a piece of this plant and use its silky interior to soothe your wounds.

4. Money Tree

And of course, we couldn’t forget about the money tree. Who wouldn’t want a money tree growing in their home?

While this tree doesn’t actually grow dollar signs, it’s the perfect household plan because it is among the most resilient.

Since the money tree is among the fastest growing plant group, it needs to be kept in an area of direct sunlight. Water this plant only when the soil dries up.

5. Peace Lilly

The Peace Lily is a great plant to have around if you love flowers. While the huge white blooms might look like flowers, they’re actually called bracts.

These are modified leaves that Peace Lilies evolved within the wild so that they could reproduce.

Since it’s not technically a flower, you can expect the blooms throughout the year.

This plant is also perfect for any beginner because it tells you what it needs. If you see the leaves start to fall, it means your plant is thirsty. If the leaves start to turn yellow, move the plant to an area of lower light.
