Chris and Julie from DO or DIY desperately needed some pizzazz in their guest bedroom and knew the perfect solution would be a headboard that made a BIG statement. However, despite all the tutorials for DIY headboards, Chris and Julie but didn't find anything that quite fit the mark. The couple decided to come up with their own design that combined fabric, tufts, winged sides, and nailhead trim. Julie says, “It makes just the statement we wanted in the room, accomplishing that luxurious hotel look we were going for... although I didn't consider how it would encourage guests to never leave! The best part of this project was that it was a weekend's worth of work that only cost us $100, compared to retail versions that ranged from $800-1500!”

Ayisha from The Pursuit of Handyness wanted the perfect settee for her new master bedroom. Unfortunately, the "perfect settee" in Ayisha’s book cost almost $2,000, which was certainly not justifiable for an occasional piece of furniture. Since there was a shortage of DIY settee tutorials out there, Ayisha was forced to figure it out herself. She used an old Ikea chair to save money on the construction and splurged on the foam. In the end, Ayisha got exactly what she wanted in the size and color that she wanted for only $140!

After seeing the gorgeous upholstered bed Kelly from View Along the Way made, Carissa of Carissa Miss knew it was just what she wanted for her daughter’s bedroom. Carissa modified Kelly’s dimensions to fit a twin-sized bed and got to work building, upholstering, and adding nailhead trim.
