For their new 18-foot long dining room, Whitney from Life in the Barbie Dream House and her husband knew they needed a long rustic table to fill the space. They immediately fell in love with the planked dining room tables from Restoration Hardware and the cream colored linen chairs they paired with them. Then they saw the price tags, which range from $2,500 - $4,000! Woof! So Whitney sent her handy hubby several photos of different plank tables from the store's catalog, and he created this for under $150!

Carissa of Carissa Miss knew the exact dining room table she wanted – a Restoration Hardware handcrafted trestle table made from solid reclaimed wood. The color and style were perfect, but the price… not so much! So Carissa and her husband set out on their first furniture building endeavor with plans from Ana White in hand. They are lovin’ their new table that cost… wait for it… less than $100! How’s that for a gorgeous eight-foot long table that fit 16 of Carissa’s family members?!?

When Lisa of Salt Marsh Cottage saw Ballard Designs' Messina Dining Table, she knew it was almost perfect. Besides the $900 price tag, the table was rectangular while Lisa needed an oval shape. She stalked Craigslist for an oval table that she could transform and, amazingly, bought one along with six chairs and an extra leaf for a total of $100! Talk about a steal! Lisa then developed a paint technique to mimic the zinc top and painted the legs and apron with homemade chalk paint. She couldn't be happier with the way it came out--not to mention a savings of almost $800!
