What do you do when you want a $2,000 bed but don’t have $2,000 to spend on a bed? Build your own for around $350 instead! Camille from Imperfectly Imaginable and her husband modified Ana White’s platform bed plans to replicate the look of an upholstered bed with nailhead trim that they loved from Restoration Hardware. Camille walks you through their entire build and even how she achieved that signature Restoration Hardware antiqued finish.

For their new 18-foot long dining room, Whitney from Life in the Barbie Dream House and her husband knew they needed a long rustic table to fill the space. They immediately fell in love with the planked dining room tables from Restoration Hardware and the cream colored linen chairs they paired with them. Then they saw the price tags, which range from $2,500 - $4,000! Woof! So Whitney sent her handy hubby several photos of different plank tables from the store's catalog, and he created this for under $150!

Jennifer from Blissfully Ever After wanted to add some industrial style letters to her son’s playroom. Jennifer knew she could purchase letters at the craft store, but then she came across Whitney’s free printable and tutorial at Shanty 2 Chic for creating DIY industrial letters. Jackpot! Jessica paired her own faux galvanized metal painting technique and Whitney’s printables to make her large wall letters for a mere $10!

When decorating a tiny bathroom, there is only so much storage and decorating space. Greg and Ashley from Seventh House on the Left solved this dilemma while renovating their half bath by adding shelving above the toilet. They opted for a Restoration Hardware-inspired wood and metal combination, using worn boards for the shelves and pipe for the brackets. Here’s what they have to say about their new shelves: “The shelves really help balance out the vanity wall on the opposite side, and we’re thrilled to have some storage to be able to showcase some pretty things.”

If you love the silvery look of mercury glass, you will be relieved to know that you don’t have to pay big bucks for the real deal. Like Jennifer from Decorated Chaos shows, a spray bottle of vinegar and water and Krylon’s Looking Glass spray paint are all you need to pull off the same finish. Jennifer used this technique to turn a glass lamp from the thrift store into this beauty!

Sharon from Lilikoi Joy had the idea to place long mirrors above her nightstands to mimic the look of windows. Unfortunately, the mirrors looked more like the cheap plastic door mirrors they were than the pretty windows Sharon had envisioned. Instead of tossing them to the curb, Sharon decided to give the mirrors a “Hollywood regency style glam makeover.” They certainly don’t look cheap or plastic now!

With the help of Ana White's plans, Jaime from That’s My Letter built this simple, modern toy box with inset sides and a personalized lid. And let me just say this baby covers all the bases when it comes to safety with a child safe closure that holds its position and a cut-out in front so no little fingers get pinched! The lumber and hardware cost less than half of the retail price, making this DIY version a beautiful and budget-friendly option.
