Give Your Garden a Fresh New Look for Summer

May 9, 2019 By Julia Carlisle

Planning to redesign your garden, patio or backyard but stuck for ideas?

A garden is an ideal place to escape the stresses and strains of life. And whatever the size of your garden, just being outside in the fresh air, can make a huge difference to your health and wellbeing.

In fact, creating a new garden design or updating specific areas can give your whole home a considerable boost, especially for the summer when it provides you with a valuable extra outdoor room for you to enjoy.

If you don’t have the time or budget to redesign your whole garden, then there are some effective things you can do to update your garden and give it a fresh new look for the summer months.

Paint Garden Furniture in Bright Colors

New garden furniture is a quick and easy way to give your garden a new look. But if your existing garden furniture is still solid and functional, but perhaps looking a little tired, a fresh coat of paint will completely transform it.

Why not add a summer vibe to your garden with bright blue or hot pink furniture?

Give old furniture a great new look with just a few coats of paint, but just make sure that the paint you use is suitable for outdoor use and then enjoy your fresh new seating area.

Transform Your Garden with Lighting and Shade

By cleverly using lighting and shade, you can completely transform your garden space. Adding solar lights and even paper lanterns dotted around the garden, combined with the sounds of nature, will add a special atmosphere to your garden during summer evenings.

You can also manage light and shade with a retractable pergola or trees.

Depending on where you live, American summers can get extremely hot, so adding extra shade to your yard allows you to enjoy being in the garden but out of the strong, hot sun.

Trees can also help to cut down on noise pollution while circulating the air in your space.

Create a Beautiful Paved Patio Area

If you have enough space in your garden, then consider incorporating a paved patio area into your garden design.

During the warm summertime, you can open your doors and step onto a beautifully tiled area and enjoy relaxing in your own wonderful outdoor space.

And if you like to host parties, then your new patio will provide the perfect location. Just add in some comfortable chairs for your guests to relax on or perhaps a relaxing swing seat.

Your new patio will transform not just the look of your garden, but how you use it too.

Whether you have a small courtyard garden or are fortunate to have a huge yard, there are many things you can do to transform the space ready for the summer.

From a simple repaint of your garden furniture, using light and shade in a new way to creating a paved patio area, your garden will soon become a wonderful extension of your home and a place to relax and entertain your friends.
