Want a Magazine Feel Kitchen? Here’s How

September 3, 2019 By Julia Carlisle

setting up a magazine feel kitchen

Kitchens have always been more than just a place to cook. It’s the setting of everyday family time and close-knit get-together with friends.

A homeowners’ first thoughts when remodeling a kitchen or starting from scratch always goes to colors and matching styles.

But if you want a kitchen that looks fresh out of a magazine with a more aesthetic appeal, your first thoughts should be about the layout of the kitchen.

So we’re going to guide you through some major points to get the kitchen you’ve dreamed about.

Create the plan

kitchen layout

Every great kitchen begins with a layout plan. The kitchen layout should be designed to perfectly fit your lifestyle.

Planning your kitchen layout and design will help you to visualize the kitchen design ideas you have in mind.

Creating a plan now has never been easier, even if you don’t know how to make a floor plan; you’ll find companies where you can just send them images of your kitchen’s main appliances, and the measurements of your kitchen, and voila! They will send you a professional plan back.

Working space

Assuming every kitchen has a fridge, sink, and stove, these are the main elements that you’re going to design around and is known as the kitchen triangle.

A good kitchen layout allows you easy movement between the three while cooking, and should also provide enough space.

Depending on the size of your kitchen, you can have more working zones, and not just this main one.

For example, another three zones could be for preparing food, cooking, and eating.

Prioritize

setting up priorities in kitchen's layout

Without priorities, you can easily get confused and not getting the value you would expect from your newly built or remodeled kitchen.

Is storage your main concern or having an enlarged space?

For counters, will it be quartz or marble or any of the other great choices around?

Will you go for tile flooring or stone flooring? Single or double sink? As you can see there are a lot of things to get in order.

Storage

Every kitchen needs storage space, but you need to pay attention to how to allocate and utilize cupboard space.

Your cupboard layout should be organized according to how you use the space.

Items or small appliances that are often used should be near to each other.

Also, check the latest kitchen solutions in cabinetry and drawer storage.

Swing-out pantry shelves, corner cabinet with pull out shelves, or exceptionally deep drawers help keep your kitchen organized and will actually increase your storage capacity, so they could be a good investment.

With some professional thinking and advice, you will find that your kitchen has much more potential than you thought possible.

When visiting a store, ask if there are small samples you could purchase, which will help you to visualize your overall kitchen design.

You can collect paint samples, fabric, flooring samples, take a picture of the lighting you like, and perhaps small chunks of countertop material.

Together, they will give you a better, futuristic picture of how your kitchen will look before you begin building or remodeling it.

With extensive research and well-planned kitchen design, you’d most probably achieve that magazine feel kitchen you dreamed of.
