5 Items That Will Make Your Home Unique

By

Having a home representing the style you imagine is a great feeling, and when you implement interior design ideas that work, you will be able to create a uniqueness that others would wish they had thought of.

Let’s take a look at a few ideas that could make your home unique.

1. Replace Door Hardware

Replacing door hardware with a barn door and exterior sliding barn door hardware will provide a more decorative feel and uniqueness to any space in your home.

It will also prevent your furniture from looking older than it really is.

Other hardware in your home includes all pulls or knobs that currently exist. Make sure that they are of good quality and not from a home improvement store as they can make it look cheap.

So ensure that they come included with the door. If you need to obtain some hardware, then your best bet will be to search at stores that specialize in specific hardware.

If you want to save as much money on the hardware, then you can incorporate your creativity by producing your own hardware. This will instill uniqueness and provide a more personal meaning to it.

You can also redesign your existing hardware by using materials such as rope, wood, or leather.

2. Display Favorite Items

In order to make any room or space feel unique is by personalizing it with existing items. These can include a collection of photos or books.

You can even pull out sentimental value items such as your high school letterman jacket or art that your kids made in preschool.

Regardless of what it is, you will achieve the unique feeling that you were after. Plus, you will create a home that can be viewed as inspirational, even if you intentionally display your items.

As you organize your items make sure that your papers and photos are in frames for a crisper feel.

If you display your collection, then it is best to bring in shelving to display your items. If you want to hang items, then you can attach hooks so they can be viewed easily.

3. Display Art Around a Window

The great thing about windows is that there are great ideas to use the space around them. However, many windows may seem difficult to design around.

With that in mind, you can break the rule of hanging your art at eye level and display them below the window.

When you do this, it instantly creates originality. This is true even for spaces that do not have many windows, as photos are able to create a low area to concentrate on so that the entire wall is not too overwhelming.

4. Incorporate a Chandelier

A home’s ceiling is capable of providing so much style with the unused space. However, not many people know how to include it into their design plan.

But like all of the other walls in the home, it too is blank and needs to be intertwined in a room or space’s design. When you do, your space will have a bigger feel overall.

Although many items exist that you can use for your ceiling, they need to be able to capture the attention of those who view it. A few of the items that can be used include a chandelier.

Sure, a chandelier can seem expensive, but it will provide uniqueness as well as beauty to a space.

As your chandelier hangs, you can change up the color of your ceiling to give it more depth besides just the plain white or put on some decorative wallpaper.

5. Hang Photos on Your Bathroom Walls

You may not consider the bathroom wall as a good place to hang photos, but it is a unique way to use the empty space. Plus, the bathroom gets used a lot during the day and before heading to bed.

So having something to enjoy as you do your business is nice to have to pass the time.

This is where your personal photos come into play and help to create either a positive start or end to your day.

Make sure that they are hung in frames that can resist humidity and other mists such as sprays and perfumes.
