Smart Ways to Decorate Your Bedroom

July 6, 2019 By Olivia

Whether you just moved into a new house, or you have decided to renovate your bedroom to give it a new aesthetic appeal, reaching your ideal and sophisticated bedroom is an easy thing to do.

With a few tips and tricks, you’ll be able to make your bedroom not only smart and functional but a relaxing and comfortable sanctuary as well.

Below we have gathered the many ways you can give your bedroom a makeover.

Play around with paint, wallpaper, and color schemes

When going for that expansive and airy look, consider white and neutral colors to truly make your room warm and heavenly. However, don’t be afraid to go bold with colors to truly allow your bedroom to make an impact.

You can color block the wall with a bright color, or even go two-toned and paint it in two different shades by having the lower half in bold and top in a lighter shade.

Choose a color scheme that is suitable and layer it around your room; try mixing warm and cool colors together, but for an even more sophisticated look, add an unusual color accent to it. If your bedroom is white and navy blue, splash around some gold accents to make it pop.

Why focus on your walls? Many homeowners have been painting their ceilings and leaving the wall a neutral color to make it appear higher than it is. For smaller bedrooms, consider painting the floor instead to make it look expensive.

Forget the paint and choose wallpapers that make a statement, especially if you’re going for the neutral theme. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns because they will definitely make your room pop.

Make it super comfy

Your bedroom is your haven away from all the chaos; so naturally, you need a comfortable space to rest.

In order to do so, there are a few things you can change to add comfort and coziness to your bedroom sanctuary.

For starters, start with your bed; invest in memory foam mattress toppers; according to Beddingnbeyond, a good mattress with a suitable mattress topper will aid deep sleep and make your body feel relaxed.

Top it off with fresh, soft linens and new silk comforters and duvets that match your bedroom’s color scheme and also will allow you to snuggle up. Pile on some pillows, of different sizes, textures, and patterns; they’ll give your room an appealing and cozy look.

Make a statement with furniture pieces

Although your bed is already the main and a focal point in your bedroom, it won’t harm creating a different focal point with any other furniture piece.

You can create a reading nook with a cozy armchair, a side table, and a lamp to add sophistication to your room. Nothing makes your bedroom look more uplifting than having a unique bench placed at the end of your bed.

It’s a bonus seating, can be used for storage, or to just look pretty. You can get super creative with your nightstand, don’t go the traditional route and have some fun with it.

Go vintage and mix styles by changing the finishing of an old nightstand to make it more stylish. Or, go thrift shopping for unique items that can be used your nightstand like a trunk, a wooden crate, a bar cart, or a wicker table; you can utilize them well and they’ll give the room a funky and eclectic look.

Consider also installing floating shelves as your night stands; they’re trendy, modern, and unique.

Find your light and reflection

Picking out the right lighting units go a long way in making your bedroom look smart and sophisticated.

You can make lighting your focal point by choosing a statement pendant or a vintage chandelier, for example; adding unconventional lighting makes the room look bigger and draws attention.

For a truly tranquil space and a warm ambiance, forget the overhead lighting and add cool and unique lighting fixtures and lamps around the room for the perfect reading or relaxed atmosphere.

Night lamps, wall sconces, or stand lamps will definitely keep the lighting dimmed and subdued.

Mirrors can also create a strong impact in your bedroom; they make your room look spacious and they can reflect natural light making it more appealing and comfortable.

You can add a mirror as your headboard, install a larger one on one of the walls, or make your closet cabinet doors out of mirrors.

Get creative with accessories

There are many ways to accessorize your room to make it look bigger, brighter, stylish, and comfortable.

Consider adding a rug that is suitable for your space and color scheme, tuck it under the bed to make it look more spacious. If you have a bookshelf or a large dresser, be sure to add the statement-pieces to make it look more stylish.

Personalize your accessories as well by leaving little pieces here and there that reflect who you are and don’t be afraid to mix and match styles. Add some framed artwork or pictures to give your room character.

Consider adding a canopy if you’re looking for a serene and bohemian look. Make the room come to life by adding indoor plants or fresh flowers, you’ll be surprised at how this can make it feel homey.

The bedroom is possibly one of the most important rooms in your home; you need to be able to relax there and start or end your day on a good note.

Find your style and customize your own room to perfection. It will be the perfect escape.
