Dena from Hearts & Sharts was inspired to create “cheap, easy, and unique wall art” by layering an image over text. She used public domain anatomical images and layered them with her “hoarding” Grampa’s old air force records. Dena even took it a step further and added more visual interest with a faded chevron background. As Dena says, the possibilities are basically endless – you can use newspaper, scrapbook paper, old book pages, or even flea market finds. In addition to images, you can also create a piece of artwork like Dena did that features a large saying on smaller print.
Dena was inspired by artwork like the Vintage Camera Framed Print by Zlatka Paneva sold by Pottery Barn.
Dena shares how she combined the layers to create her artwork at Hearts & Sharts.
