4 Tips For Getting a Good Roofing Company to Work on Your Home in Annapolis

12:23 AM By Julia Carlisle

Keeping the roof of your home in good order is a priority if you want to avoid problems like leaks, damp, mold, and even structural damage to the fabric of your home if repairs and maintenance work is not carried out on schedule.

However, finding a good roofing company in Annapolis means searching through lots of listings for roofing contractors without knowing which are really good, a time-consuming exercise which is best avoided.

Instead of just hoping for the best you need to get active, and to help you we have four great tips to share on how to find a great roofing company to work on your home in Annapolis.

1. Use a local company

Not just a nationwide business, but a roofing contractor who is based in the Annapolis area.

This is helpful for several reasons, including the fact that a local contractor like Jackson Roofing in Annapolis will be familiar with the area’s housing stock and climate, they are likely to be good roofers as their future business depends on good reviews from local people, and they are on hand if any further help is needed.

2. Choose a specialist roofing contractor

Different homes have different types of roof, some are flat, others tiled, and each needs someone with direct experience and an understanding of the way they work.

Be clear when looking around that you need someone who knows about flat, tiled, shingle or historic roofs. Once you have found a few possible roofing contractors who have the relevant experience you can take things to the next stage and ask for photographs of previous work, along with customer testimonials, and, perhaps even contact details for satisfied customers who would let you see the finished work.

3. Don’t choose based on budget alone

It’s good to get several quotes so you can get a picture of the average going rate, but keep in mind that the cheapest price may not always be the most sensible choice.

For example, a competitive price from a small, independent roofing company where the owner works from a home office, and automatically passes on trade discounts on materials to the customer is understandable, while a bigger roofing company offering the same deal could mean they are using the cheapest possible materials, or hiring the least qualified workers they can.

4. Meet shortlisted roofers in person

Once you have narrowed down your list of good roofing companies in Annapolis arrange or them all to visit our home and give you a quote for the work needed.

This is a good opportunity to get me than an idea of their fees – use it to ask any questions you may have, to check evidence of paperwork like their insurance, and qualifications, and to get a general impression of things like timekeeping.

If you feel unsure about anything this is the time to act on that and scratch them from the list.
