How many of you have an old guitar that was once the pride of a child or husband? Generally, first guitars are abandoned once a person no longer has an interest or has moved on to a better model. If you’re lucky enough to have an old guitar in the attic or basement, bring it out and do what Bonnie from hometalk did – create a unique piece of wall art.
Bonnie began her project by removing the strings and then she gave the entire guitar a coat of chalk paint. Once the paint was dry, she decoupaged vintage sheet music pages to the sides of the guitar. Bonnie then used sheetrock mud which she applied with a putty knife through a plastic stencil to give a raised look to the design.
To achieve an antique look to the stenciling, Bonnie mixed a dark oak stain with a glazing medium and applied that to the raised stenciling, and her beautiful artwork was done.
