If you’re tired of seeing the same old floating shelves featured on home dec sites and would like to have something unique and practical in your own home, take a look at what Brooke at Anastasiavintage has done with a vintage suitcase.
The first step in the process is to cut the suitcase in half across the back. This results in a shallow front of the suitcase and an open back. A board is then nailed to the open back, creating a stable section to hang the suitcase, and the two sides are nailed together so the suitcase no longer can open. Then it’s a simple matter of adding hangers onto the back of the suitcase and attaching it to the wall. This easy to create shelf is a one-of-a-kind treasure that will reflect your own individual personality.
Adding the finishing touch to this project is the accessorizing of the shelf with unique objects.
