Instead of going the traditional bunk bed route for her 7-year-old daughter’s room, Annisa of A Pretty Happy Home wanted the versatility that a trundle offered (storage or extra sleeping space). She says, “I pictured sleepovers with giggling girls, but also the possibility of storing off-season clothing or sports gear. Sure, it took us some time, but it cost so much less to build this bed ourselves. Instead of purchasing a second mattress for the trundle (we won’t have THAT many sleepovers), we opted for a twin-sized air mattress. It gives us the flexibility to use the trundle for sleeping or storage. I know that this bed design is classic enough to last through her teen years.”
Annisa was inspired by the retired Emmett Bed from Pottery Barn Kids.
