“Excuse my scribbling, it is late, and I have a poor candle” Henri Rousseau
Rousseau may have had a poor candle, but your decor will not. This pair of mason jar lanterns will add warmth and a soft glow to any room in your home. Rae from Hick Country, shared with Rachel from A Southern Fairy Tale, her instructions for making a pair of old fashioned lanterns.
Space-saving and functional, Rae takes us step by step on how to mark up the boards and stain them. She notes that you must decide where you will hang these and mount the hanging hardware first prior to creating the lanterns. Another note, when punching holes in the mason jar lid, be sure they are directly across from each other. They will hang off balance if they are not correct.
Planning on lighting the candles? Do not use the twine pictured. Instead use metal wire to hang the lantern. There’s simply no comparison, candlelight will always reflect a warm and soft light. Do you have a room that must have these lanterns? I know I do and cannot wait to work on this project.
