Junk Metal Pulley Lamp

There is no question that Donna of Funky Junk Interiors lives up to her blog’s name. She has an amazing knack for taking legitimate junk and making it funky and fun and just plain awesome! With the help of an artist/welding friend, Donna created this crazy cool, functioning lamp out of a collection of metal odds and ends. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a lamp with more character. Donna says it’s perfect for her “junk inspired home!”

Industrial Wood and Metal Coffee Table with Casters

Elisha from Pneumatic Addict Furniture was recently inspired to build this industrial steel-frame coffee table using her newly-learned welding skills. Through DIY Elisha was able to save money and make some of her own changes, like using oversized casters, choosing a deeper shade of wood stain, and adding carriage bolts to the tabletop for interest. Elisha says this is her favorite furniture build to date, and I can most definitely see why!

Steel-Frame Butcher Block Coffee Table

Jenna of Jenna Halvorson Designs needed to find a use for a leftover six-foot slab of butcher block that was taking up precious space in her garage. Her husband had the genius idea to build a coffee table and found the perfect inspiration in a wood and metal table from Restoration Hardware. The couple purchased some steel and enlisted the help of a friend trained in welding. Jenna says, “It looks like a thousand dollar table and is sturdy as a rock. Which is great because it will double as a train table most of the time!”

Wood and Metal Coffee Table

Debra from Bungalow loved the look of a reclaimed wood and metal coffee table for her living room, but spending a couple thousand dollars on a small table simply wasn’t happening. Instead, Debra purchased some iron from the hardware store and put her husband’s welding skills to work. Even if your husband can’t weld, Debra suggests finding a friend or hiring out the welding to still save a pretty penny from Restoration Hardware’s price tag.
