Five years ago Jamie from anderson + grant rescued a metal cabinet from her grandmother’s garage before it was torn down. The old cabinet had collected quite a bit of dirt and grime over the years, but Jamie saw some future potential in it. Years later inspiration finally hit, and Jamie transformed the rundown cabinet into a functional message center for her home that features a chalkboard door and key hook rack.
After getting bunk beds for her boys’ room, Jen from Scissors and Spatulas wanted a wall-hanging book bin like those from Land of Nod for her little guy on the top. There was no way though she was paying $70 for “a few pieces of wood.” Jen’s hubby grabbed some scrap wood and trim pieces from the garage and put a book rack together with just a few screws and nails.
Jen painted it blue, and it’s just like the real deal. The only difference… about $65!
