Silent Night Chalkboard Wall Art

christmas chalkboard canvas

Kristen from Inspired Whims loved a “chalkboard-esque” Christmas pillow from Pottery Barn, but couldn’t splurge on it with all the other looming expenses of the holidays. It inspired Kristen’s inner artist, and she decided to recreate the look with an old canvas she had picked up off the side of the road. A little chalkboard paint and some fancy free-handing were all it took!

How to Create a Gallery Wall Around Your TV

gallery-wall-around-tv.jpg

After hanging the TV on the wall in the family room, Kim from Tidbits & Twine felt it looked sad and lonely floating all by its lonesome.  She decided to better incorporate it into the space by creating a gallery wall around it. Kim picked up some inexpensive frames and art pieces at HomeGoods and also added in a couple of items that she found at the antique faire. I love the collected look and that all the pieces were carefully selected and hold meaning to Kim and her family.

Gold and White Christmas Sign

christmas sign

To go next to her stunning starburst mirror Christmas tree, Jen from Tatertots & Jello created a holiday sign that also reflects her gold, white, and grey color theme. Jen purchased a cheap shelf board for the sign and used her handy dandy Silhouette for the art. Believe me when I say the Silhouette makes sign-making a breeze. And, instead of $69, Jen made her sign for only $12!

DIY Gold Bird Art

gold gilded bird art

This morning I shared a DIY pinboard created by Shauna at Satori Design for Living. If you loved that touch of gold she added to her frame, here’s another gilding project from Shauna that brings on the glitz. Shauna was inspired by a tray featuring a silver leafed bird motif to create framed art with a similar look. All she did was print an image from the computer, trace it onto specialty paper, and paint it in with the gilding. I love that you could use this technique with any design you like to create fab seasonal art – leaves, pinecones, antlers… The possibilities are endless!

Wood Framed Flatware Kitchen Art

fork spoon and knife kitchen art

Nick from Lifestyles of the Rich and the Davis’ was happy to oblige when his wife requested a trio of flatware canvases for their dining area. With the help of Photoshop, Nick created his own stencils and painted the spoon, knife, on fork onto the canvases. Now, many would of stopped there, but Nick wasn’t done yet! He then turned the “disjointed set of silverware” into a statement piece by building a wood frame. I love how it brings the whole piece together!

Geometric Stained Wood Wall Décor

pb inspired wood art

Mrs. Hamilton of His House Her Home is a lover of Pottery Barn but not their prices and decided it was time save her bucks and try her hand at creating her own wooden artwork. While Pottery Barn may have been been the original inspiration for this piece, Mrs. Hamilton says it was Ashley from Shanty 2 Chic who gave her the confidence “to break out the saw and get to work!” I’d say she did a pretty awesome job!

Vintage Framed Map Wall Art

DIY Wall Art | Framed Vintage State Map at TidyMom.net

A few days ago I mentioned the State Pride Tour I hosted over at Infarrantly Creative and shared a Pottery Barn-inspired map triptych. Cheryl from Tidy Mom also participated in the fun, representing her home state of Missouri with a framed vintage state map. Cheryl cut her map into four pieces and then placed each one into frames she glammed up with some Rub N Buff. I love the combination of the sophisticated antique map and glitzy gold frames!
