Popcorn Tin to Pet Food Canister

diy pet food canister

A big bag of pet food can be quite the eyesore in your home, and Ballard Designs offers the perfect solution with their stylish food storage containers. However, at $55-$59 a piece, Erin from Elizabeth Joan Designs says you might as well just keep the food in the bag or make your own stylish pet food bin. Of course, crafty sister Erin chose the latter of the two! She hit up the thrift store for a popcorn tin and updated it with some horizontal painted stripes. The canister even has Erin’s Golden Retriever’s seal of approval, so you know it must be pretty awesome {Wink}!

Pam from Our Adventures in Home Improvement has been blessed with a husband who can build just about anything. Each Christmas he likes to make her a piece of furniture, and 2012 found them in need of table for behind the couch. Pam and her handy hubs modified the design for a buffet from Pottery Barn that provides plenty of storage for extra dishes and such. I can only dream of being able to build a piece of furniture like this!

Recycled Magazine Storage Box

rolled magazine box

Using items from your recycling bin, you can turn a plain old cardboard box into a decorative storage bin like Gay from It’s A Hodgepodge Life did. Gay rolled a bunch of magazine pages and attached them to her box and then created a no-sew burlap liner to make the inside as beautiful as the outside. This is just one of many fun creations you can make from rolled magazine pages!

After finding metal wall hangers at a thrift store, Rachel was inspired to turn them into a leaning magazine rack similar to one she saw from Urban Outfitters. Rachel offers some great suggestions and resources for making your own since you may not find metal wall hangers like she did.

Spinning Storage Shelf

In need of storage for her craft space, Jeanette from Country Design Style created a revolving shelf that has room to spare. Jeanette added her own flair by gluing various styles of trim to the top and bottom. I love how accessible everything is with this design. Instead of searching around in a cabinet or drawer, just give it a spin and craft away!

Laundry Detergent Canister

After spying a styling laundry detergent canister from Ballard, Char from Crap I’ve Made headed to the Army Navy Surplus store for a canister of her own. Sure, it wasn’t nearly as cute as the catalog version, but that’s nothing a can of spray paint couldn’t fix! With some vinyl lettering, the transformation was complete… [...Read More]
