DIY Wood BINGO Tray

A collector of vintage board games, Donna from Funky Junk Interiors knew a replica of Pottery Barn’s Bingo sign would fit right in with her “decorating theme.” The question was more of how would Donna put her own unique spin on it. Donna didn’t find her answer until she went digging in her scrap wood pile for inspiration. The result was an artistic vintage-style Bingo card that also doubles as a sturdy wooden tray.

Stenciled Pillows to Lighten Up a Dark Room

stenciled pillows

With brown furniture and few windows in her family room, Nan from You Could Make That wanted to find a way to lighten up the space. She decided new pillows were in order and created four different designs using, stencils, craft paint, and white denim. Nan says, “Four new pillows, inspired by Horchow and Pottery Barn, for the price of some denim – a far cry from the $100 plus price tag!”

Blue Painted Chevron Rug

Chevron Painted Rug

Riva from Uno, Dos, Très Chic is not a fan of traditional baby motifs, so this chevron painted rug was the perfect addition to her son’s nursery. Riva created her chevron design but cutting over 200 rectangles from freezer paper. (How’s that for dedication?) I really like how Riva alternated the two slightly different shades of blue, as it adds a bit more visual interest. Most importantly, it looks like Riva’s little man likes his new stylin’ rug.

With a small paint brush and plate of craft paint in hand, Melissa completely transformed an IKEA console into a trendy piece of furniture that is sure to spark lots of conversations. It’s no wonder Melissa’s cabinet was one of the faves in the Creating with the Stars knockoff round!

Stenciled Burlap Lampshade

Traci from Beneath My Heart was flipping through her Pottery Barn Kids catalog when a burlap lampshade caught her eye. And… surprise! It wasn’t because it was exactly what she’d been looking for and knew she could make it for less. On the contrary, Traci had already created almost identical lampshades for her boys’ room three years prior! Pretty striking resemblance, eh? Traci can proudly say, “Pottery Barn copied me!” {Giggled}

Boston Subway Art

A close friend of Jeannine from The Concrete Cottage loved the Z Gallerie subway art and wanted to give it as a gift to her dad. When she asked if Jeannine could recreate it, she had a small list of requests: make it personalized, make it a bit less distressed, and make it for way cheaper than Z Gallerie’s! Done, done and done! Jeannnie was able to use her Silhouette, some paint, and a bit of chalk to create a one-of-a-kind gift that nearly brought her friend’s dad to tears!

Kate from Magic City Thistle loved the look of an oh-so-cute tray that resembles a supply cart but would never have the little cart on her coffee table without getting creative! Kate sourced a basic wooden tray from her local thrift store and revamped it with paint and four tiny grapevine wreath “wheels.” Doesn’t it make for the cutest display on her outdoor dining table?

Yes, the temperature today is in the thirties, but all the bunnies and eggs around make me feel like spring is on the horizon! Susan from Sunflower Hugs used materials she had on hand to create this burlap Easter flag with a bunny silhouette applique.
