Distressed Storage Bench

Aimee from The Vintage Estate was more than willing to help out a family friend who was moving out of her farmhouse and needed to unload a few items. One of Aimee’s acquisitions was a cedar chest that had seen better days. Despite the ugly exterior, the inside was still in great condition. It only took some homemade chalk paint to transform the chest into a bench like one Aimee had been admiring from Pottery Barn.

Here’s a blast from the past from one of my fave repurposing gurus around, Gail of My Repurposed Life. Gail turned an old crib rail into a laundry drying rack like Ballard’s ever- popular wall-mounted racks. Of course it wouldn’t escape Gail’s notice that those crib rungs are perfectly suited for their new life!

After seeing some awesome vintage play kitchens for kids, Kayla Danelle decided to tackle her own repurpose and make one for her son. Kayla’s dad got in on the action and tracked down a set of upper kitchen cabinets to transform into the kitchen set. I love how this came out and the genius idea to reuse old cabinets. Why start from scratch when the work’s already done for you {Wink}?

Distressed Black Armoire

rh-inspired-painted-armoire.jpg

Natalie from Sophisticated Yellow came across an ad for Restoration Hardware’s Montpellier Armoire and fell in love with its dark, bold, and commanding look. Not surprisingly, it was also expensive. However, Natalie happened to have two old armoires sitting in her garage that looked remarkably similar. A few coats of paint later and some light sanding was all it took to transform her old armoires into Restoration Hardware’s black beauties.
