We’ve all heard the jokes about how women love their shoes. If your mom is one of those ladies who needs a separate closet to house her shoe collection, then this gift idea is for you! Stacie from Stars for Streetlights dressed up a pair of Payless flats by adding a bow made from an old scarf. Aren’t they pretty?

Farmhouse Dining Table

pottery-barn-knock-off-farmhouse-table.jpg

Jocie of The Better Half had been dreaming of a beautiful farmhouse table for her dining area. With a bit of begging, Jocie convinced her handy hubs Ethan to take on building the table from scratch. That is… until she came up with an ingenious idea. Instead of building from scratch, Josie and Ethan reused the legs and parts from a secondhand table and built a new solid oak tabletop. Their table is every bit as gorgeous as their Pottery Barn inspiration but way cheaper and even higher quality!

Subway Train Art

restoration-hardware-knock-off-1.jpg

As soon as Rachel from Holy Craft saw a large framed painting at a garage sale, visions of Restoration Hardware’s classy subway art swirled in her head. She whipped out the paint and vinyl to transform the artwork into a piece she can truly love. And would you believe it cost less than $5 total??? That’s an amazing steal for such a large piece of artwork, especially when you consider the $550 price tag of Rachel’s inspiration!

Mary Anne from Purposedly Reinvented has a love affair with trays and simply cannot get enough. Here’s what she has to say about her favorite decorative accessory: “From the entry way to bedside, they are stylish must-haves that can help you display, contain and organize.  Whether you are decorating or entertaining, everything looks better on a tray.” I love how Mary Anne embellished this thrift store tray with thumb tacks!

Number Art Nightstand

For her “Big Guy’s” thirtieth birthday, Dana from Crafted Niche surprised him with a nightstand she picked up off of Craigslist and refabbed with some cool number art. Dana used a projector to trace on the number design and then painted it in with homemade chalk paint. While the outside is pretty amazing, Dana also customized the inside with dividers to hold the Big Guy’s beloved sunglass collection. She definitely gets some awesome girlfriend bragging rights for this gift!

Burlap Rosette Lampshade

pb-kids-inspired-rosette-lampshade.jpg

Crystal from Homemaker in Heels made a plain lampshade resemble a beautiful bouquet by covering it in burlap rosettes. The rosettes are crazy simple to make, requiring just a little rolling, twisting, and gluing, but make a huge visual statement.  This is a great way to salvage an old shade that is showing some wear and tear or discoloration. All covered in rosettes no one would ever be the wiser!

If  you ever shop at Ballard you have undoubtedly seen their ceramic garden stools that make lovely little side tables. On a thrifting expedition with the girls, Myra from My Blessed Life scored a pair of oriental garden seats for only $14 – for the pair! She gave them a sleek, crisp look with some white spray paint and had herself the spitting image of Ballard’s garden seat. Seriously, can you get over the fact that they have EXACTLY the same pierced detail? Craaazy!
