Refabbed with Fur {Desk Chair Makeover}

fur desk chair

Leslie from Paper Daisy Designs recently rescued a mid-century modern desk from the trash and revived it for her daughter’s bedroom. Of course, a new cool desk needs an equally hip chair! Leslie transformed the run-of-the-mill desk chair that was already into the room into a “furlicious” chair with plenty of personality. How fun is this?!?

DIY Wood Bead Chandelier with Chalk Paint

diy-wood-bead-chandelier.jpg

Sarah from Life on Virginia Street had her heart set on a wood bead chandelier for her office. Unfortunately, the price tags on the fixtures Sarah loved weren’t cooperating with her design plans. Sarah instead landed on plan B – refabbing an existing fixture. Equipped with spray paint, chalk paint, and wax, Sarah turned a nickel chandelier with green and purple beads into a pretty convincing knock-off. Would you ever guess those aren’t real wood beads?!?

Lisa from The Salt Marsh Cottage needed a work table for her projects and was happy to find the perfect one. Woohoo! Unfortunately, the $999 price tag wasn’t anywhere near what she could afford. Boohoo! Lisa instead decided to rework an outdated desk she had been trying to sell on Craigslist. With some leftover paint, Danish Oil stain, and new hardware, she was able to get the look she wanted for a total investment of less than $20.

I just love this project from Ahna at Easier Than I Thought because it’s a true example of seeing potential and beauty where others see trash. Ahna took an ugly (and I mean UGLY) old rocker and turned it into a thing of beauty. Literally, it looks like it could be sitting right in Restoration Hardware’s catalog with its nailhead trim, gray-washed finish, and textural linen-like fabric. You’ve got to head over to Ahna’s site to appreciate this miraculous chair makeover and learn how you too can achieve that gorgeous look!

From Gross to Gorgeous Chair Makeover

ballard inspire chair makeover

Sara of Major Hoff Takes a Wife was smitten the moment she saw Ballard’s Casa Florentina Collection. She says, “The brush strokes, the depth of colors, the glazing, oh my! Then I saw the price! Double oh my!!!!” While Sara might not be able to have the exact $449 armchair she was drooling over, that didn’t mean she couldn’t have a chair with a similar look. She snatched up a wood chair a friend was selling for $20. It was desperately in need of a little TLC, and Sara was happy to oblige with a fresh coat of paint, secret waxing technique, and new upholstery. Isn’t she a beaut now?

Over on Infarrantly Creative, I recently featured a gorgeous farmhouse style staircase that caught my eye and five ways to get the look for less. One of the items that added incredible texture to the space was a hand woven beachcomber basket. Lisa from Celebrate Creativity shares how she updated an inexpensive craft store bin with rope to create her own versatile and beautiful basket. She says, “…the easy rope-wrapping technique will have you churning them out for friends, family and yourself in no time.”
