Tripod Floor Lamp

diy-tripod-lamp.jpg

The minute Julie from Do or DIY saw Restoration Hardware’s tripod floor lamp, she knew she had to have it. Well, maybe not RH’s almost $1400 lamp, but a very similar DIY version! Julie wanted it to have that antique vibe, so she took to Craigslist to find an old wooden tripod that was used for mounting telescopes. Husband Chris took over the electrical work, and the lamp was complete! It turns out that Julie and Chris’ lamp cost less than even the sales tax of the Restoration Hardware version!

Vintage Locker Baskets

Linda from It All Started with Paint is a big fan of shiny metals in her décor. Generally, the more sparkle and glitter… the better! However, that wasn’t the look she was going for in her dining room. So Linda transformed some shiny chrome locker baskets she ordered online into vintage baskets that appear to have stood the tests of time using just paint and about 15 minutes of time!

Hand Painted Market Sign

Heidi from All That Brings Joy was inspired by all the different hand painted, antique looking signs she’s seen around Pottery Barn for the last year or two to finally tackle her own. She decided to make one for her kitchen and went with the word market. With the little amount of wood and paint required for this project, Heidi was able to do it without spending any money.

Decorative Wall Ledge

pottery barn inspired ledge

After building a small ledge for her bathroom, Laura from I’m Not A Trophy Wife knew she wanted a larger, chunkier version for above her bed and came up with some plans to build her own. This is a fabulous alternative to a mantel if you don’t have one and can even make a statement above a bed as a headboard. With the trim detail and distressed finish, it’s full of character and provides plenty of space for decorating.

Valentine’s Envelope Chair Backer

pb kids inspired valentines chair backer 2

I made my kids chair backers for Halloween last year and they absolutely loved the thrill of finding treats inside each morning. Carrie from Simply Home shares how she created these adorable felt chair backers for Valentine’s Day with a few basic supplies. While the detail work may be a bit time consuming, you can save some serious dough by making these yourself. Carrie spent only $20 for four chair backers as opposed to paying $27 a piece with monogram!

Glass Lantern Table Lamp

Melissa from A Terrible Thing to Waste is in love with all things Pottery Barn, minus the prices, of course. She couldn’t get a glass lamp out of her mind and scoured shops for the right lantern to transform into her own DIY version. When that magical moment finally happened, Melissa got to work with a lamp kit, her drill, and some spray paint. For $69 she got a lamp almost identical to her $169 Pottery Barn inspiration and is a hundred dollars richer {wink}!

Hanging Book Rack

Shannon from Sew Sweet Cottage made a bright red bookshelf for her kid’s room.  Well actually she commission her husband to do it but she was the visionary.  I love the pop of red in the room against the bright covers of the books.  She found a tutorial on the Martha Stewart site that gave [...Read More]
