Ballard’s burlap message board has gotten a lot of knock-off love throughout the blogosphere. Considering all the renditions I have seen of the popular board, I can’t help but be a little surprised when I come across a new take on it. Mel from {Frantz} Featherings created a spot-on copycat by attaching corkboard to a canvas and then wrapping it with burlap. While Mel says the canvas is a pricier alternative to foam core, it really helped her achieve the look she was after.
Melissa of Two It Yourself says the most rewarding part of the master bedroom makeover she completed last year was the DIY upholstered headboard she made with the help of her sister Stephanie. Amazingly, the sisters were about to pull together this beautiful king-sized bed in only five hours and for close to $150. The mattress delivery guy didn’t even believe Melissa had really made the bed until she pulled out the leftover drop cloth as proof. That, my friends, is success!

While Abbie says she doesn’t do pricey, she does do DIY and quickly set out on turning a square coffee table from Craigslist into the ottoman of her dreams. I love how Abbie repurposed a table and think her lovely ottoman is the icing on the cake in her gorgeously decorated living room.
