Valentine’s Envelope Chair Backer for $1

With Valentine’s Day less than a month away, Kristen from Down Home Inspiration is in full-on holiday-crafting mode. She loved Pottery Barn Kid’s envelope chair backers, but $26? For felt? Kristen knew she cure couldn’t justify the expense and instead grabbed some quarter sheets of felt and embroidery floss from the craft store and made three adorable chair backers for her kids – for less than a dollar each! Her kids love filling the pouches with sweet little notes to each other!

Fun and Festive Felt Garland for All Occasions

I love creating things out of felt. It’s crazy cheap, comes in an array of colors, and with a dose of creativity can become something beautiful. Kym from Cobberson + Company created a colorful and festive garland by simply cutting strips of felt, tying them into little bows, and stringing them onto fishing line. It was a project that came in at less than $10 and is fun to pull out throughout the year for birthdays and other events. As Kym suggests, you could even customize the colors for specific holidays, like a red and pink garland for Valentine’s Day.

Thanksgiving Boat Place Holders

Here’s a really cute Thanksgiving idea from Ashley at Simply Designing. With just a bit of felt and a little hand-stitching, she made these little pilgrim boats filled with candy. Wouldn’t these make darling place holders at the “kid’s table?” You could also fill them with small gourds or pinecones if the candy might prevent your little ones from “gobbling” up their turkey.

Felt Pumpkin Chair Backer

As shared on Infarrantly Creative, I created custom chair backers for my kiddos last year and started a new tradition where they get a special note or treat inside the pouch each day. I mean kids don’t get enough treats at Halloween, right {wink}? Ha! The real point for me though is just witnessing the excitement even one little Hershey kiss can bring. It makes my heart smile, and I cannot wait to continue the tradition this October!

No-Sew Antler Pillow

Aimee from It’s Overflowing shows it is possible to create a knock-off pillow without a needle and thread. Aimee let her Silhouette Cameo do almost all the work for this project! All she had to do was iron the perfectly cut deer head onto a ready-made pillow she snagged on clearance at Target. As Aimee asks, “how can something that simple be that cute!?!”

Felt Mistletoe Wreath

I am sure you are no stranger to no-sew fleece blankets with knotted edges. Pam from A Walk in the Park applied the same technique to create a mistletoe wreath for her door. The knots and pom poms lend tons of texture and look amazingly like Pam’s inspiration!

Poinsettia Pillow

Heather from Thrifty Stories had been oogling Pottery Barn’s poinsettia pillow for over a year now and finally made her own with a zipper closure for easy storage.  This pillow is both elegant and fun with the jingle bell center. My kids would have a blast shaking this pretty pillow whenever they could get their little hands on it!

Felt Christmas Trees

Today’s all about Christmas trees here at KOD! I’ve got a couple of projects to showcase that show there are more options out there than just the traditional evergreen boughs. Gail from Purple Hues and Me created this trio of red trees by cutting felt leaves and adhering them to cone forms. What a simple way to make a statement on a tabletop or mantel!
