What better way to dress up your table for Easter than with décor that looks good enough to eat… and actually is! It wasn’t the pretty flower arrangements or sparkling glassware that caught the eye of Jennifer from Jennifer’s Mentionables as she browsed through Pottery Barn’s Easter catalog but their tasty bird’s nest cupcakes that double as dessert and décor. How sweet is this?!?
Undoubtedly those of you with kiddos have big egg hunt plans this weekend. Ashlee from Two Naps By Noon shares a quick and easy tutorial for turning a plain basket into the star of the show hunt. Ashlee’s no-sew technique involves inserting the tulle into the basket weave and then creating loops all the around the top. Talk about simple! I know my daughter would go crazy for all the froufrou tulle!
You may remember the bunny ear napkin rings shared here on KOD a couple of weeks ago. Well, Trish from Uncommon Designs also couldn’t pass up on the adding some major cuteness to her table this Easter with a set of the napkin rings. Trish’s technique results in a seamless finish with bunny ears that are super sturdy and will not fray. Plus, she says they are easy to make and may not cost you a penny if you’ve got the materials on hand like she did!
When Jill from Create.Craft.Love laid eyes on some monogrammed glass Easter egg ornaments, she knew it was time to break out the etching cream. Jill created an initial stencil with her Silhouette, adhered it to her glass egg ornament, and then applied the etching cream. Ten minutes later Jill rinsed it off and had a simple and elegant take on the classic Easter egg!
Andrea from Queen of Kings fell in love with a lovely Easter display of cherry blossom branches and hanging eggs but couldn’t justify spending an exorbitant amount of money on some fake eggs. That’s where a little creativity and craft store supplies came into play! Andrea stretched her money by doctoring up paper mache eggs with paint, ribbon, and lettering from the computer. She got almost the exact look of her inspiration, but it only cost her $7!
As expressed in one of her favorite poems, dragonflies hold a special meaning to Gail from Purple Hues and Me. So she was delighted to hack a cute, glittery green caterpillar dragonfly that she saw at Pier 1. The Easter ornament was easily duplicated using basic craft items Gail had on hand. Don’t they look like little dragonfly twins {giggle}?
