Painted Stripe Nautical Pillow with Anchor

painted-nautical-pillow.jpg

While looking for decorative pillows for her daughter’s bedroom, Hayley from Grey House Harbor came across an adorable anchor design. But $52 for a 20″x 20″ pillow?!? Hayley says she didn’t like it that much and decided a DIY was in order. She already had an unused throw pillow insert and white fabric left over from another project. One freezer paper stencil and a little latex house paint later, and voila! Why would you spend $52 when you can make a spot-on knock off for only $3???

Stacy from She’s {kinda} Crafty shows how a little resourcefulness can go a long way! In twenty minutes flat she pulled together materials from around the house to create this cutie patootie Easter garland. Fabric, paper, ribbon, twine, pom-poms, cotton balls…. there are so many different materials that you could use to make a similar bunting. Like Stacy says, “So don’t just sit there. HOP TO IT!!”

CONFESSIONS-OF-A-PLATE-ADDICT-Pottery-Barn-Inspired-Bunny-Banner2a.jpg

Debbie from Confessions of a Plate Addict has been on a knock-off roll this spring and added an adorable bunny banner to her collection of PB-inspired Easter décor. Debbie substituted budget-friendly burlap for linen and kept thing simple by using Heat n’ Bond to adhere the bunny silhouette. The only sewing required is a simple straight stitch, or you could use fusible tape or even hot glue to make it a no-sew project.

Hand Painted Bowls Anyone Can Make

handpainted-bowls-inspired-by-anthropologie.jpg

Debbie of Made From Pinterest was a little hesitant to try a pin for hand painted bowls due to the artistic nature of the project. However, the beauty of the hand painted look is that it doesn’t require perfection. Debbie got some cheap bowls and paints and went to town. She says, “Be creative!  Don’t worry if the design isn’t perfect. That just adds to the hand painted look and feel of these cute designer and decorator bowls.”

Mable from Tiny Dazzles Blog loves to watch her kids role play. When Mable came across a play store online, she knew they would love it and found similar plans from Ana White. Mable is a regular shopper at the Home Depot scrap bins and bought all the wood she needed to make her own store for less than $6. Some of the wood was even free! Mable says, “It was an easy project and my kids absolutely love it. They are the cutest little store keepers.”

Easy Succulent Terrarium with Brass Base

Knockoff-West-Elm-Terrarium-Average-But-Inspired.jpg.jpg

Like Bre of Average But Inspired do you love the low-maintenance nature of succulents? Bre created a stylish terrarium to hold succulents using a glass bowl from the dollar store and a piece of wood to create a vintage-inspired brass base. I love the look of the mixed materials and how the pedestal elevates the bowl slightly. Bre’s easy DIY terrarium cost only $7 and adds a touch of modern flair to her home.

Kilim-Inspired DIY Wall Art

wool-kilim-inspired-artwork.jpg

Liz from Life in Projects loved a handwoven wool rug from West Elm. However, she says at $799 there was no way the rug would be making a debut in her home. That didn’t mean Liz couldn’t still incorporate the look into her space! Liz turned the design from the rug into wall art by simply “stamping” a drop cloth with the end of a piece of wood. I love how such a simple pattern can make such a impact!

What’s better than a project that’s pretty? A project that’s both pretty and practical! Morena of Morena’s Corner team created these easel place cards for Easter, but their functionality doesn’t stop there. As Morena points out, they could also be used as food labels or even photo frames. She says, “I think this would make great reception pieces that could double as favors, don’t you?”
