Queen Storage Bed

Ever since Shannon from Bohemian Junktion’s son left for college, bed in tow, his room has sat empty. When it came time for spring break and her son’s arrival home, Shannon knew he would obviously need a place to sleep and came up with a plan that involved moving her high school daughter’s bed into her son’s room and building a cottage-y storage bed for her daughter. The really impressive part is that her teenage daughter is the one who actually built the bed using plans from Ana White. You go girl!

Glass Container Terrariums

Inspired by the current trend of houseplants, but uninspired by the thought of upkeep, Sarah from {Home-ology} Modern Vintage became smitten with the idea of terrariums. She found a beautiful terrarium at Crate & Barrel but wasn’t so enthused with its “sale” price. Sarah went in search of similar versions at vintage shops and found three beautiful glass containers to create her own grouping of terrariums.

Painted Clock Face from Table

pottery-barn-inspired-clockface-from-old-tabletop.jpg

Becky from Posh Pink Giraffe made a decorative clock face that seriously looks like it came straight from the pages of Pottery Barn’s catalog. And here’s the kicker… it didn’t cost her cent! The secret to Becky’s saving was in repurposing an old tabletop that had been hanging around in the trunk of her car for a month. The table was on its way to Goodwill until Becky was hit with her genius idea. It’s times like these we can be grateful for a little procrastination {wink}!

Painted Stripe Outdoor Rug

Like Heather from Southern State of Mind you have probably found yourself wondering why outdoor furniture and accessories are so crazy expensive. Who wants to spend a ton on things that are going to sit outside and be exposed to the elements? Certainly not Heather! Instead, she spray painted a thrifted rug and got exactly the same look for a grand total of twenty bucks!

Oversized Floor Pouf

large-floor-pouf.jpg

While making over her daughter’s bedroom, Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage got a request for a big floor pouf. Although she was a little hesitant to tackle the seemingly complicated project, Gina knew she wasn’t spending over $200 on the one her daughter had been eyeing. In the end, Gina actually ended up spending only an hour on the task and saved money by stuffing the pouf with blankets and other soft items from around the house.

Personalized Canvas Nightlight

customized-bird-nightlight.jpg

I think part of the appeal of Pottery Barn Kids is that pretty much anything can be customized. However, as we all know, custom comes at a cost. Like… $35 for a nightlight. Ouch! Fortunately, crafty ladies like Vanessa from Tried and True have a knack for getting that custom look without spending $35 on something that costs $5 at Wal-mart. Vanessa shares at Crafts Unleashed how she made this adorable nightlight using a mini canvas and tissue paper. Too cute!

Personalized Step Stool

With two young children, I can attest to the fact that a stool is a necessity in the bathroom and can also be helpful if you’ve a little chef in the kitchen. While plastic stools get the job done, they just aren’t nearly as pleasing to the eye as a personalized wood stool like this one from Jaime at That’s My Letter. Jaime followed plans from Ana White to build her stool for next to nothing using scraps she had on hand. The hand painted personalization is just the icing on the cake!
