Wood and “Metal” Console Table from Scraps

Monica from East Coast Creative says her entryway was in desperate need of a “stylish, but functional table.” Like a $1,099 table from Pottery Barn made from reclaimed wood and steel – except without the $1,099 price tag. Actually, it came with no price tag at all! Monica used wood she had leftover from other projects to build the table and then finished it off with spray paint and stain. It’s amazing how much the metallic spray paint looks like metal. Sure had me fooled!

Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic also teamed up with the lovely Ana White to add storage behind her sofa with a PB-inspired console table. Whitney’s new console has the look of an old work bench with a thick, sturdy frame, casters, and distressed finish. Here’s what Whitney has to say about her build: “I love the storage it gives me as well as it’s open feel in the space. Oh… And did I mention $80 to build? Love it even more!”

Apothecary Style Media Console

pottery barn inspired media console

Today I am going to share two Pottery Barn-inspired consoles built by a couple of very talented ladies, Jen from House of Wood and Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic. First up is Jen, who sought out the assistance of Ana White to build a media console to hold her 50” plasma TV that had been collecting dust in storage. My favorite part is how the beveled apothecary-style door flips down to reveal a cubby that hides the media components. How cool is that?!?

Rustic X Console Table

You may remember the gorgeous farmhouse table create by the Shanty 2 Chic sisters this past summer. While Meg from MT Tails didn’t need a farmhouse table, she did want a console table and modified the plans from Ana White to make it happen. I love love love how Meg added sheet metal the top and gave it an aged look.

Kristen from My Covered Bridge has been working her tail off on her third home renovation and finally has gotten to the fun part – decorating! A trip to Salvation Army scored her a sad looking table for ten bucks. Of course, it was nothing a little black paint couldn’t fix, and now Kristen absolutely […Read More]
