Turn a Vase into a Coastal Glass Lamp

Lisa from Salt March Cottage has been working to rebuild and refurnish her beach cottage which was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Understandable, controlling costs is a must. Lisa fell hard for a demijohn jug lamp with burlap shade, but the $269 stood in the way of Lisa and her dream lamp. Lisa knew that didn’t mean she couldn’t make a similar coastal style lamp and did just that with a vase from Home Goods and some items from the hardware store. Thanks to Lisa’s resourceful knock-off she saved a whopping $221!

Nautical Rope Lamp Makeover

It’s always amazing how a little rope can totally change the look of something and instantly infuse it with a nautical feel. Krista from The Happy Housie took a lamp she had purchased at Wal-mart a couple of years ago, glued a paper roll to the base to thicken it, and then wrapped it with sisal rope attached with some hot glue. It gave the lamp an upgraded nautical look that fits perfectly in her son’s new nautical camp style bedroom.

Faux Fishing Weights for the Nautical Lover

Aimee of Twigg Studios loves nautical décor and has been adding touches throughout her house like these Restoration Hardware inspired faux metal fishing weights. Aimee created her weights by covering various-sized balls with clay and then layering paint for a rusted metal look. I love how these look in front of the vintage whale species chart Aimee also made. Head over to her site to check them out!faux fishing weights
