Pinecone Cluster

Happy December to you! I am kicking it into full-on Christmas decorating mode this weekend. If you still are searching for inspiration, here’s a quickie project from Christa at Brown Sugar Toast you could probably whip up after a walk outside. Christa glued some pinecones to a red satin ribbon, and voila – beautiful and natural Christmas décor!

Silver Glass Hurricanes

Terra from Mama Says Sew added some holiday flair to glass hurricanes from the thrift store with silver spray paint. I am loving me some metallics this year, and, of course, think you can never go wrong with a thrift store find and some spray paint {wink}!

Metallic Leaf Christmas Tree

While browsing the Pottery Barn catalog recently, Joy from Thrifty Parsonage Living came across their beautiful metallic bay leaf trees. Joy was drawn to the silver tree since she’s decorating with silver, blue, and a winter wonderland theme this year.  She was disappointed to find the trees were no longer available, but, in true DIY spirit, decided to make it herself. The shimmery tree cost Joy a whopping $2.50, which has to make her happy they were sold out in the first place!

Pom Pom Wreath

I am totally digging all the alternatives to the traditional Christmas wreath that have been floating around. This fluffy yarn wreath made by Aimee from It’s Overflowing takes the cake! I love all the texture, and literally all you need is some yarn and a wreath form. I honestly think Aimee’s wreath is waaay better than its $128 Anthropologie counterpart.

Felt Leaf Tree Skirt

Remember that pretty felt wreath pillow from yesterday? Well, Jody from Homey Home Design loved it so much she decided to whip up a matching tree skirt this year. Jody sewed a simple tree skirt and then added her felt leaves and pom poms with fabric glue. If just the thought of making your own tree skirt wears you out, Jody encourages that it was much simpler and took less time than expected. Maybe she’ll add stockings to the collection next year!

Jeweled Christmas Tree

When Gail from Purple Hues and Me saw a lovely little Christmas tree made from brooches, she knew it would be a perfect way to display jewelry pieces she had accumulated from her loved ones. Gail pieced together large and small pieces to cover a Styrofoam tree and finished it off with glittery sparkle. The sentimental meaning behind Gail’s tree makes it all the more beautiful!

Pom Pom Ornaments

Jen from Librarian Tells All has been on a mission to recreate West Elm’s ornament collection, and her latest and greatest is a fluffy and fun pom pom. For the price of one ornament from West Elm, you can make five, ten, or even twenty-five of Jen’s wallet-friendly version. As Jen points out, this is a great way to burn through some yarn if you’ve got a healthy supply.
