Sweater Pillows

If you follow me at Infarrantly Creative, you know about my recent endeavor to help a family rebuild after a painful period in their lives by creating a home they truly love. One way I pinched pennies on pillows was by repurposing a couple of sweaters. Sweaters are seriously a dime a dozen at Goodwill, and if you reuse some filling from old pillows like I did, you can make your own cozy pillows for practically nothing.

My pillows are similar to the Sweater-Knit Pillow Cover from Pottery Barn.

These will be warm and comforting during the colder weather coming soon.

I was prepping my pictures to submit the same idea!! Yours look great too.
I made some pillows from a chocolate brown sweater last year, they turned out great. I used a scrap co-ordingating fabric on the back, so I could have 2 matching pillow, one from each side of the sweater.

So there was no waste, I also used the cut off sleeves. I sewed up the shoulder end, and left the wrist band open, and slid in a hotwater bottle for a hotwater bottle cover.

Fabulous idea, Amber, to create a hot water bottle cover with the sweater scraps! And please do submit your pillows. I’d love to see them! :)

  3. I did this years ago. Good ideas just keep resurfacing :-) I also made a pillow for my niece out of her old favorite plaid shirt. It was really cute cuz I configured it so I could use the buttons right on the front and the pockets too!

The Discovery.com ads at the bottom of the blog, under “You may also like….” are frightening. I’ve been looking at pillow posts because I want to make a few and the discovery.com ads that appear are titled: What’s eating me? Can bed bugs be washed? Etc.

Any way to avoid those? It’s making me get rid of all my pillows instead of making more. :(

      Hi Monica,
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I had no idea that was showing and have removed all the offending ads. Thanks for reading! :)
